Today, we will learn to draw a cute small chick in our drawing tutorial. As usual, we will learn to draw the chick step-by-step. For our drawing, we show the chick just born next to the broken eggshell.
Step 1. Outline the body and the eggshell.
First, we want to outline the main composition of our drawing to position and size the eggshell and the chick correctly in our drawing.
Step 2. Outline the body and head of the chick.
Start adding additional lines to our chick drawing to show its head, beak, wing, and legs.
Also, draw the broken egg in a bit more detail.
Step 3. Draw the chick and eggshell in more detail.
Using the auxiliary lines from the previous step, start drawing the chick's head, beak, body, wing, and legs in more detail.
Step 4. Draw the chick's down. Draw the chick's eyes and start hatching.
Chicks have small, underdeveloped feathers. These soft feathers are called down. Down keeps the chicks warm. As chicks get bigger, they grow adult feathers. They lose their down as the adult feathers grow. In this step, we start to draw our chicks down. We draw the eye of the chick in more detail. Then, we start to add hatching to our drawing to show shading.
Step 5. Continue hatching the chick drawing.
Continue hatching the drawing to give the chick and the eggshell volume.
Step 6. Finalizing the chick's drawing.
Continue adding hatches on the body and the head of the chick to show the down. Hatch below the chick and the eggshell to show shades.
