Today we present a tutorial for drawing daffodils. There are several types of daffodils that differ in size and shape. There are large-crowned and small-crowned daffodils. The horn-shaped core of this flower gives it a special charm. Follow the steps below and you will have a beautiful drawing.
Step 1. Outline the tube of daffodil's calyx.
First, start with the outline of the tube of the daffodil's calyx. As you can see it resembles a tube.
Step 2. Start outlining the daffodil's petals.
At this step, we just need to outline the position of the future petals with ovals.
Step 3. Draw the outer petals of the calyx.
Once you finished the contours of the daffodil's petals, draw the contour of the calyx's opening part.
Step 4. Draw the shapes of the daffodil's petals.
Draw the triangular forms that extend the circles that outlined the petals of the daffodil. The extension of the circles into triangular forms will later transform into beautiful petals.
Step 5. Detail the daffodils' petals.
In this step, we start detailing the daffodil drawing with curved lines for the calyx and petals. The curved shape of the calyx will make the drawing realistic. The curved lines going from the inside of the daffodil will add volume to the drawing.
Step 6. Adding stem, leaves, and shade to the daffodil drawing.
In the last step of the drawing, carefully remove the unnecessary lines. Adding hatches and lines inside and outside the calyx that vary in size and curve will help add volume. As the last step, you can add the stem and leaves. Long, soft lines going along the leaves will help you reproduce light grooves on the leaves.
